What is the energy Price Cap, and how does it affect what I pay?

Updated over 3 months ago

If you live in England, Wales, or Scotland, and you're on a standard or default tariff (you usually are if you haven't switched recently), your energy prices are governed by the Energy Price Cap.

The Cap is a limit set by Ofgem on the maximum price energy suppliers can charge you per unit of gas and electricity. You can find full info in our What is the Price Cap? guide.
